I am Hani Hiyabu, a Canadian soccer player who left home at the age of 14 and 15 to attend trials twice with Vancouver Whitecaps FC. At 16, I made the decision to continue my development in Victoria, where I played with Victoria Highlanders FC. I have also played under Cavalry FC U23s and represented the SAIT college soccer team.

Throughout my journey of chasing soccer, I have learned so much about the game not only what happens on the field, but also everything that comes with it off the field discipline, sacrifice, mindset, and consistency. These experiences have shaped the way I see player development and the importance of details in becoming a complete athlete.

I am eager to contribute as a coach and help young players by sharing both the small details and the big details that can help them reach their full potential in the game. Being able to speak Arabic and Tigrinya also allows me to connect with players from different backgrounds and build strong communication with diverse groups.

My mindset is simple: let’s get one percent better every day
